This Sunday, the 12th January, is our first official litter pick of 2025 in Mile End Park. Why not come and join us – we go out whatever the weather – although if it is horrendous we might escape for coffee and cake earlier than usual!
For the litter pick we’ll be meeting by the Art Pavilion, heading north up towards Bow Wharf (on the canalside) and then coming back down the Grove Road side.
There is always something to see or hear in the park besides the litter. Yesterday there were robins galore all over the park. Using the brilliant Merlin Bird ID app I managed to make out a goldcrest, wren and [two?] goldfinches all within two minutes. In Chris’ Wood, by the Art Pavilion, dozens of snowdrops are in flower, and in the Climbing Wall Wood the bulbs we planted just a few months ago are starting to emerge.
Date: Sunday 12th January
Time: 10-12PM
Location: Meet by the Art Pavilion (behind the Grove Road Texaco garage)

Has anyone else noticed that one of the herons likes to sit on this bench and listen to the ghetto blaster music?
A special thanks to Emma who came with 20 friends on Saturday to celebrate her birthday with a very chilly, but enjoyable, litter pick. Certainly a memorable celebration.
