The Art Pavilion Spring Programme 2022

The Art Pavilion continues to emerge from its Covid-induced hibernation with a varied and exciting series of FREE art events, beginning with a varied selection of works from East London’s Dennis Beckton Fine Art Collective. This group of emerging young artists from the University of East London were denied a degree show due to the outbreak of covid-19 and so are utilizing the DIY ethic to kick in the door of the art world. They make work about history, society, culture, identity, the environment and politics.

This is an exhibition based around the theme of consciousness: be that self-conscious, class conscious, unconscious, environmentally conscious or the collective unconscious. Works include painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, and installation.

Free Workshops

As well as the exhibition itself, the collective are putting on two workshops during their residency. Alongside the regular opening times of 11am-6pm weekdays, and the Private View 6pm-9pm on the 3rd March, they are running two workshops: The first on Saturday 5th March (1pm-3pm) and the second on Sunday 6th March (1pm-3pm). They are free and open to everyone! Whatever level of drawing or sculpting you are at, you are welcome to come and hang out for a few hours and get creative. We will be fostering a very relaxed and non-judgmental atmosphere where we will be offering some guidance and discussion if wanted and the Collective artists will be having a go themselves! A good excuse to get out of the house, entertain the kids, or practice some skills in a spacious and comfortable environment.
